Project Preparation

Administered Websites manages to satisfy its customers by consulting with; and listening carefully to them in the design stage, keeping them informed during construction of the project, and ensuring that the requirements of the client remain centre stage.

Every website project is unique!

The fact remains that the preparation phase of every website project is critically important.

There are a few decisions that you need to make: -

• Number of pages: - How many pages do you require?
• Textual content: - What textual content do you want on each page? You are the best person to write the text for your pages. Who knows your product/business better than you do? I will happily help out with text if required.
• Are Graphics necessary: - Are graphics necessary for the pages? Too many can spoil a page
• Graphics or Photographs: - Will any necessary graphics be created graphics or photographs?
• Animations: - Are animations necessary? They are not always useful and if used incorrectly can spoil the pleasure of an otherwise well made web page.
• Colourscheme: - Do you have any colours in mind? I would not recommend more than two or three main colours.
• Search Engine Optimisation: - Will Search Engine Optimisation be required? It is a major plus point for any website to be easily searchable by the search engines. It is much easier to build search engine optimisation into a build if I know that it is required at the beginning than having to go back and add it later.
• Domain Name: - Do you have or do you need suggestions for a domain name?
• Website Hosting: - Will I be required to provide hosting for your website or do you have another host sorted out already?
• Navigation: - What style of navigation is best for your project?
• Forms; - Do you need any forms and if so exactly which questions do you need answering?
• Legalities: - Are there any legal disclaimers that you need to show? Are there any copyright problems that may need sorting out in advance?
• Referal Program: - Do you wish to take part in the Administered websites referal program?

Some of the questions above may leave you thinking, "Help!" Which I happily will. You have no need to make these decisions on your own.

A lot of key work is performed during the project preparation phase of the build. While details are being confirmed with the client and the initial pages are being considered for navigation, search engine optimisation and accessibility purposes there will not be a lot of visual design to see.

Once you have confirmed that you want me to undertake your website work I am sure that there will be e-mails flying backwards and forwards at some point.

Communication is a good idea in any design process.
